i have installed WINDOWS NT 4.0 and ORACLE 8i on my system. i do not have ethernet card on my system, so i just gave a dummy card and installed the drivers. when i give the command :

C:>IPCONFIG
Windows NT IP Configuration

No IP address is shown. i have created a new instance using ORADIM.

now when i give:

SQL> STARTUP NOMOUNT PFILE = D:ORACLEORA81ADMINSAMPLEPFILEINITSAMPLE.ORA

It gives me :
ORA-12560 TNS: Protocol Adapter Error

what should i do ?

in that case,

Post your listener.ora,sqlnet.ora
