I have recently install the Oracle 8i Client on my notebook which runs window 2000 professional.
I try to delete the SID from the dos prompt shows "oradim does not recognised"... why does that happen...
Does it need to be enterprise edition in order to use this utility?
If yes, can i install the enterprise edition without removing the oracle client which currently running on my notebook?
Please help thanks

ORADMIN deletes the ORACLE_SID in the server. NOT IN THE CLIENT

In order to use the oradim do I have to uninstall the oracle client before installing the Enterprise edition or is it possible to install enterprise edition leaving the oracle client on my notebook?

you can uniinstall oracle client
or
install oracle enter edition in another oracle_home.
I would go for unistalling the client.
