When I try to connect to oralce 8.1.6, I am getting a error as Credential retrieval failed (ORA-12638), eventhough all the Oracle services were started. This orcale was working fine and suddenly I am getting the above message. I restarted my machine and again I am getting the same message. Can anyone help me to save the data, becos I have imp. data in the DB.

what is the OS?
Please look in the alert log for a trace files...if so please post the trace file also...
