Hi ,
I have a question on authentication in oracle 8i session (e.g. sqlplus).
If i configure a user as an external user (user will be authenticated against the Operating System ),
will i be able to login to sqlplus session ,as the external user from the Operating system shell,
without providing password (since i have already logged on to operating system as the user).

I hope the above is not confusing.

Pls. help me in this regard.

Thanks in Advance,
Bala S

Yes,if you are using OS authentication, then you should be able to login using sqlplus , without providing password, providing your Unix login matches your OS authenticated Oracle user.
