i am installing developer 9i on my xp pro desktop. it is giving me an error in the file oci.dll during installation. Anybody has any idea what i should do??

Please detail the full version of XP that you are running. SP1, SP2, etc plus the build number.

i am totally new to this so please bear with me and tell me what does sp1,sp2 and all the other stuff are?? Embarassed

Open MS Word, go to Help -> About Microsoft Word then press the System Info button. The first line will say 'Microsoft Windows XP Professional' (probably) and the second line will have 'n.n.nnnn Service Pack n Build nnnn'.

Please key that that second line into your reply.

Okay ... go to the top of your thread, press 'search', type 'oci' and you will probably find your answer, or, at least, all the other people who have had the same problem. Quite a lot of them actually.

the error has not caused any problem while i ran the deveoper suite. i guess it is ok then.

I recommend that you still search for 'oci' and read some of the threads to get an idea of what may have happened and the problems, if any, that may still happen.
