Oracle ADF (Application Development Framework) is part of JDeveloper. ADF provides a productivity layer for J2EE developers to build applications that are well-architected, portable, and high-performance. ADF is also used by Oracle itself to develop their E-Business Suite.

ADF consists of the following sub-frameworks:

  • ADFFaces
  • ADFFaces Rich Client
  • ADF Swing (connects standard Java Swing components to the ADF binding layer)
  • ADF-BC (Business Components)
  • ADF-Binding

An ADF application can be constructed with all or any combination of the above sub-frameworks depending on your requirements.
